Sunrise shells have always meant more to me than simply being beautiful.
When I lived in Hawaii, I loved searching for them around Waimea Bay on Oahu’s North Shore. There was something special about being out at sunrise, where the mountains meet the sea, looking for one small flash of color among the sand and shells.
That feeling of searching for something rare and overlooked is a big part of what The Steampunk Prospector has always been about.
This genuine Hawaiian Sunrise shell has been wrapped by hand in antique copper wire. I kept the wrapping open so the shell’s natural colors, ridges, and fan shape remain the focus.
Sunrise shells are treasured for both their beauty and rarity. Each one has its own blend of color and natural markings, so no two will ever be exactly alike.
